On the authority of 'A'ishah, the wife of the prophet, that when someone from her family passed away, the women would gather; then they (all) would depart except her family and those closest to her. She would command that an earthenware pot of Talbeenah be brought and it would be prepared. Then Third would be made and the Talbeenah would be poured over it. She said: "Eat from it. For I have heard the messenger of Allah say: 'Talbeenah contains (many) benefits for the heart of the infirm; and it removes sadness." (Reported by Al-Bukhari no. 5101 and Muslim no. 2216)
