For many people, entrepreneurship begins with an idea.
Perhaps you have a skill that could become a service. Maybe you have identified a product that people need. You may already have a business but want to take it to the next level. Or perhaps you have been thinking about entrepreneurship for years but have never known where to begin.
For the Muslim, however, there is another question that must come before growth, revenue, and profit:
Is the business I am building truly halal?
Ash-Shifaa Hijāmah is pleased to present The Muslim Entrepreneur: How to Build a Halal Business Upon the Qur’an and Sunnah, a special three-week live webinar series beginning Friday, August 14, 2026, at 4:00 PM EST.
This series is designed to bring together two areas that every Muslim entrepreneur needs: an understanding of Islamic business principles and practical guidance for actually building a business.
Entrepreneurship Requires More Than a Good Idea
There is no shortage of information available today about starting a business.
Search online and you will find countless videos discussing marketing, sales, branding, financing, social media, and increasing revenue. Much of this information may be useful from a purely business perspective.
But the Muslim entrepreneur has a different standard.
Our objective cannot simply be:
“How can I make more money?”
We must also ask:
“How can I earn money in a manner that is pleasing to Allah?”
That changes the conversation.
A Muslim business owner needs to think about the permissibility of what is being sold, how transactions are structured, how customers are treated, what agreements are entered into, how products are marketed, and whether prohibited financial practices have entered the business.
A business can appear successful on paper while still containing practices that a Muslim should avoid.
This is why knowledge matters.
You Don’t Have to Figure Everything Out on Your Own
Another challenge facing aspiring entrepreneurs is simply not knowing where to start.
You may have the ambition but lack direction.
You may have the product but no business structure.
You may know your industry but struggle with marketing.
You may have been working for someone else for years and never seriously considered whether your skills could be used to establish something of your own.
Entrepreneurship requires vision, planning, discipline, knowledge, patience, and execution.
Our goal with this webinar is to help participants begin putting these pieces together while keeping Islamic principles at the center of the discussion.
What Will the Three-Week Webinar Cover?
The webinar is divided into three complementary parts.
Part One: The Muslim Entrepreneur
Before discussing websites, products, marketing, and profits, we must discuss the entrepreneur.
What should motivate a Muslim to go into business?
How should we view wealth?
Can a person strive to become financially successful while maintaining sincerity?
What qualities should characterize the Muslim business owner?
We will explore the mindset, purpose, character, and responsibilities of the Muslim entrepreneur and discuss the importance of seeking barakah, not merely financial gain.
Part Two: Overview of the Fiqh of Business Transactions
A Muslim should not enter the marketplace without knowing the basic Islamic principles governing commerce.
This portion of the webinar will provide an introduction to important issues related to
buying, selling, contracts, partnerships, financial dealings, ribā, and other matters connected to business transactions.
The objective is not merely to tell participants how to make a business profitable, but to encourage them to examine whether the way they conduct business conforms to Islamic principles.
That distinction is essential.
Part Three: Building Your Business
Once we have discussed the Muslim entrepreneur and established an Islamic foundation for business transactions, we will turn our attention to practical implementation.
How do you take an idea and begin turning it into a real business?
We will discuss practical considerations related to establishing, organizing, marketing, managing, and growing a business.
The objective is to help participants move from:
Idea → Planning → Action → Growth
while keeping the pursuit of halal income and the pleasure of Allah at the forefront.
Who Should Attend?
This webinar is not only for established business owners.
It is also for the person who has been saying:
“One day, I want to start a business.”
It is for the person with several ideas but no clear direction.
It is for the entrepreneur who already has customers and revenue but wants to examine whether the business is truly halal from beginning to end.
It is for the employee who has never seriously considered entrepreneurship.
And it is for anyone who wants a better understanding of the Islamic principles governing business and commerce.
The Muslim Community Needs Strong Businesses
Muslim entrepreneurship has benefits that extend beyond the individual business owner.
Successful Muslim-owned businesses can provide employment, support families, offer needed products and services, circulate wealth within our communities, support charitable initiatives, and contribute to the establishment and maintenance of Muslim institutions.
When conducted correctly, business can become much more than a means of personal enrichment.
It can become a means of benefiting people.
This is one reason we believe conversations about entrepreneurship, Islamic business ethics, and the fiqh of transactions are greatly needed within our communities.
And alḥamdulillāh, the response to this webinar has already been encouraging. People from various locations in the United States and abroad have begun registering, demonstrating that Muslims in different communities recognize the need for this type of education.
Don’t Remain on the Sidelines
Sometimes the greatest obstacle between an idea and a functioning business is simply taking the first serious step.
If you have been considering entrepreneurship, this may be an opportunity to begin gaining the knowledge and direction you have been missing.
If you already own a business, use this opportunity to examine its foundation.
And if you have never considered becoming an entrepreneur, perhaps it is time to explore what possibilities may be available to you.
Others are already registering and preparing to benefit.
Don’t allow yourself to be left behind.

Invest in Knowledge Before You Invest in Business
Before purchasing inventory, spending money on advertising, forming partnerships, or investing thousands of dollars into a business idea, invest in something that can influence every decision that follows:
Knowledge.
Learn the principles. Develop the mindset. Understand the transactions. Create the plan. Then work toward building something beneficial.
Don’t simply build a business. Strive to build a halal business that benefits others, supports your family, strengthens the Muslim community, and becomes a means of seeking the pleasure and barakah of Allah.
We look forward to welcoming you to The Muslim Entrepreneur, in shā’ Allāh.
